New Year, New Mission

Let’s have a quick think about how you can make 2025 the year you really work to lay the best foundations for your child’s future education.

Active vocabulary of 20 words at 18 months is a strong predictor of good educational outcomes later on. Children should be using about 200 words at age 2, and around 3000 by the time they’re five. The more words they know when they start school, the better they’ll do educationally. So, starting now, here’s how you parents can help your children acquire all these words!

• Switch your phones off!

• Talk to your children face to face as much as you can, as often as you can, about anything and everything.

• Read to them, and with them, regularly and often (and remember, they like to hear the same stories over and over again!)

• Sing with them, and to them; teach them songs and rhymes.

•  Play action games with them and enjoy their company!
